10 Celebs Who are Real Estate Moguls

Celebrities spend their millions in many different ways, but they tend to drop the most money on houses. From sprawling mansions, penthouse pads to beachfront getaways, celebrities like to have multiple places they can call home. Although most stars buy houses to enjoy themselves, some have taken their love of high-end real estate to a whole different level. Whether they're interested in flipping properties for a hefty profit or trying to plant their roots in 10 different countries, celebrities know that owning property is a powerful thing and a good investment. Check out these 10 celebs who are real estate moguls:

  1. Donald Trump

If anyone knows about real estate, it's Donald Trump. The billionaire businessman is a leading figure in the field of real estate and is known for having several sprawling estates of his own. Trump is mostly known for his prime Manhattan real estate, such as Trump Tower, 40 Wall Street and 1260 Avenue of the Americas. Trump resides in many lavish homes around the world, including a penthouse at Trump Tower, a mansion in Palm Beach, Fla., and a Georgian-style estate in Bedford, N.Y.

  2. Oprah Winfrey

Oprah Winfrey may be best known for her talk show success, but this billionaire is also a real estate mogul. Oprah owns a bevy of properties throughout the United States, including a condo in Fisher Island, Fla., a four-acre property in Greenwich, Conn., a lakefront condo in Milwaukee and three condos in Atlanta. But the mac daddy of them all is her 42-acre estate in Montecito, Calif., famously called "The Promise Land." The massive mansion has a teahouse and rose garden, as well as breathtaking ocean and mountain views.

  3. Martha Stewart

Martha Stewart is a successful businesswoman and a real estate mogul in her own right. The domestic diva owns homes in New York, Connecticut and Mount Desert Island in Maine. The majestic 63-acre Maine estate was first built and owned by automotive tycoon Edsel Ford. In 2007, Stewart joined KB Home to launch a line of houses that would carry her name and were modeled after her own homes. These co-branded communities are located in several locations around the U.S., such as Perris, Calif., Cary, N.C., Lancaster, Calif., and Fairburn, Ga.

  4. Sandra Bullock

Sandra Bullock is another real estate mogul who has some outstanding properties up her sleeve. The actress has homes in several different locations, ranging from a lakefront property in Austin, Texas, a SoHo apartment in New York City and a historic home in New Orleans' Garden District. After going through a very public divorce with her ex-husband Jesse James, the actress sold the couple's Sunset Beach, Calif., home for $4.5 million.

  5. Bruce Willis

Bruce Willis is most widely known for his action movie roles, but he is also somewhat of a real estate mogul. Willis owns several properties around the country, including a home in Malibu, Calif., a ranch in Montana, a condo at Trump Tower and multiple properties in Sun Valley, Idaho. Willis has made some unlikely, yet successful real estate ventures in the resort town of Hailey, Idaho, such as a nightclub called Mint, a private mansion, a theater, and the E.G. Willis building. Willis has even dabbled in some New York real estate.

  6. Jennifer Aniston

Jennifer Aniston may not scream "real estate mogul," but, by the looks of her properties, you might think otherwise. The actress has several impressive properties in her name, and has made a killing off the homes she has sold. Aniston has homes in Beverly Hills, New York City and Malibu. She recently purchased a $5 million West Village penthouse and decided to buy the $1.8million apartment below for additional space. Aniston also sold her 'Zen-like' Beverly Hills home that was customized for her by designer Stephen Shadely. This architectural oasis sold for $38 million.

  7. Will Smith

Will Smith may be known as one of the biggest movie stars in the world, but this high-profile actor is also somewhat of a real estate mogul. Smith and his wife own several properties around Los Angeles, Miami, Stockholm, Sweden, and his hometown of Philadelphia. The family recently bought a modest mini mansion that's just miles away from their massive Santa Monica compound tucked in the mountains. Whether it's for staff, family or just a short getaway for the foursome, Will Smith sure does have the eye for high-end properties.

  8. Mel Gibson

Mel Gibson may not be the most likeable actor in Hollywood, but he has proven to be quite the real estate mogul. The actor has several properties in his name all over the world. These luxurious estates range from a spacious ranch in Montana, an oceanfront oasis in Costa Rica and his own island in Fiji. Although Gibson ran into some trouble trying to sell his Old Mill Farm property in Greenwich, Conn., he was able to sell it during the hurting housing market for $27 million in 2010.

  9. Ellen DeGeneres

Comedian Ellen DeGeneres may be best known as a daytime talk show host, but she's also garnered attention in the housing market for being a real estate mogul who enjoys flipping houses. DeGeneres has owned and sold a fair share of high-end properties throughout her career and relationship with Portia de Rossi, including a $49 million Beverly Hills estate, two Santa Ynez, Calif. ranches and a mansion in Montecito, Calif. DeGeneres also has a knack for renovating and flipping houses, which has led her to sell and buy one new house each year.

  10. Brad Pitt

Brad Pitt also has a knack for buying high-end real estate around the world. The famous actor and his equally famous partner, Angelina Jolie, have bought and sold homes in Malibu, Scotland, New Orleans, Los Angeles and the French Riviera. Pitt's interest in architecture, green buildings and humanitarian causes led him to create the Make It Right Foundation in 2006. The organization housed workers and housing professionals in New Orleans while they built 150 sustainable homes after Hurricane Katrina.
