10 Ways to Style Your Girl's Long Hair

Long hair can be a blessing or a nightmare. There are so many ways to style long hair, but here are 10 simple girl’s long hair styles that with a little practice, you can likely perfect.

  1. Low ponytail with accessories. This elegant style is showing up on the runways all over the world. Part the hair with a center part and brush the hair straight back and gather it into a low ponytail. Secure the ponytail with a band. Ponytail accessories right now are pearls and feathers. Tie these around the band to camouflage it and you’re done.
  2. Low ponytail with a loop. Part the hair on the side and brush it all back into a low ponytail. Next, fold the hair into a loop and refasten it with the elastic. To prevent flyaway hairs take a tip from the pros, spritz some hairspray on a fluffy make-up brush and brush it across the hair.
  3. Big High Bun. Create a center part and pull all the hair into a high ponytail. Tease the ponytail to make it big and thick. Next, twist the ponytail and wrap it around to form a big over-sized bun. Using hair pins to secure it in place and spray it with a strong hold hairspray.
  4. Side pony tail. This pony tail can be high or low depending on your girl’s hair. Brush all of the hair over to one side and gather it into a high ponytail if the hair isn’t long enough to come all the way over. If her hair is longer you can bring the hair all the way around her head and tie a low ponytail that will hang in front.
  5. Side braided tail. Create a side ponytail and divide the ponytail into 3 sections and do a standard braid to the bottom and tie it off.
  6. Fishtail braid. Create a center part and then bring the hair back into a low ponytail. Divide the hair in half and hold each half in one hand. Now take a small section of hair from the outside of the right half and bring it over to the hair being held with the left hand. Next, do the same thing with the left hand half, take a section of hair from the outside and bring it across to the right side. Continue to do this down the length of the hair and tie it off with a band at the bottom. Now you have created a fish bone or fishtail.
  7. The reverse ponytail or the flip. Pull the hair back into a standard low pony tail and fasten with an elastic band. Slide the band down slightly and create a hole in the hair above the band. Now tuck the bottom end of the ponytail up and through the hole that you have created and pull it through. This creates an elegant polished look. This can be done with a side ponytail as well.
  8. Braided Headband. Take a section of hair from behind your ear and try to choose the longest section if you have layers in your hair. Bring the hair straight up and comb it to smooth it out. Divide the section into three pieces and braid it tightly as you bring it over her head. Take a couple of hair pins and secure the braid under her hair near her opposite ear so that it can’t be seen. Now she has a braided headband.
  9. Triple flip ponytail. This hairdo requires pretty long hair. Take the hair and pull it back into a standard ponytail. Slide the elastic down a little and divide the hair above the elastic in the middle and flip the ponytail up and through the hole that you have created. This is the first flip. Mist the rest of the ponytail with a little water and comb it down straight and add another elastic about 3 inches below the last one. Do the same thing by dividing the hair above the second elastic and tucking the end of the ponytail up and through the hole. Now you have a double flip ponytail. Mist the remaining ponytail again and comb it down. Add a third band to the ponytail about 3 inches below the last one and create the 3rd flip. Spray the whole thing with a little bit of hairspray and the style is complete.
  10. Tween Double Twist back. A simple hairdo that tweens can do themselves or someone can help her do it if she is a little younger. Take a section of hair right by her ear on the right side and start twisting it until its tight and have her hold it while you do the same thing on the other side. Now bring the two sides back and attach them together using an elastic. Tie them back and close to the head as possible so that it looks like a crown. Fluff up the hair inside the crown a little and spray everything with hairspray and you are done.
