 "Working as a nanny is a unique job with its own set of challenges and rewards. One of the biggest challenges is the lack of a built in professional support system. Nannies don’t have supervisors or co-workers to turn to for resources, support, advice or friendship. Being a nanny means being isolated for much of the day. And it’s a long day at that. Most full-time nannies work an average of 9 to 11 hours a day. Some nannies work in a household with a stay-at-home mom or additional staff. However, even when there are others in the house during the day, the nature of the job demands the nanny to be on her own most of the time. This isolation can lead to loneliness, burn-out, and feeling alone and overwhelmed by job related problems. It doesn’t have to be that way.
