Starting today, La Jornada published on its website ( jornada.unam.mx ) theelection monitoring Twitter , an index of feelings built with the opinions expressed by users of this network on the main presidential candidates updated minute by minute.
The author is Dr. Ricardo Mansilla mathematics, Academic Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Sciences and Humanities, UNAM. Born in Havana, also earned a master's degree in Economics from Carleton University, Canada, and has taught at the University of Havana for 18 years.
The Journey is the first media outlet that publishes this index updated instantly, whose novelty is that you comment outtrolls cyber or real, defined here as accounts often have strange names, publish many tweets are retweets identical, are few or no followers and have few or none.
As these accounts distort the conversation on Twitter, their removal allows a sentiment analysis of social networks with degree of reliability of 95 percent, according to Mansilla.
On the front page online you will see a graphical numerical reports the difference between the amount of positive and negative tweets each candidate weighted by the percentage of messages.It includes a methodological note explains how to calculate this index are eliminated and trolls .
Section Election of the Internet there is another graph showing the evolution of the minute of the three candidates in this index. Similarly, graphs detailing the number of tweets with favorable opinions (green) and unfavorable (coffee) posted on Twitter.The update is also done by the minute.
At day's end will be issued an average rate for candidates as well as information on the topics discussed on Twitter.
Entitled If Mexico were Twitter , each week will be available on the website of this paper a weighted average of the opinions expressed by users of the social network in the seven days prior to their publication.
